One of the thing that can ruin your day is to not know that your class has been cancelled and that you’re already in the campus, having to wake up early in the morning etc just because you didn’t read that notification mail sent just the day before. But you always check your smartphone for social update on Facebook and Twitter. Why not make it possible to check your timetable directly on your phone?

Depending on your place of study, most educational institutions support timetable syncing with iCalendar format freely available to students and teachers. To have your class timetable on your phone, first you have to have an online calendar application. Good news for those who have either Google Mail or Microsoft Live (Hotmail) accounts. You already have these features in the forms of Google Calendar and Live Calendar. 2. There are most probably two options to export your timetable. One is to download offline calendar which is not updated when ther are changes made. The second option is to export it in form of a URL which enables your web apps to get data realtime whenever it wants. For our purpose, get the URL and copy it to the clipboard.

5. Save the calendar. It will take some time for it to update on the app, so be patient.

6. Most smartphones require you to have an email account for cloud storage (Google account for Android and Live account for Windows Phone), so you might have synced a Gmail/Hotmail account to have it on your smartphone already. In that case the job is done. If not, you need to go to your phone’s settings and add the Google or Hotmail account you used for the calendar to get the timetable automatically synced to your smartphone.

7. If the calendar syncing is not automatically set/switched on, go to your calendar settings to do it manually.
